What skill level do I need to start?
Beginners welcome • no experience needed
You can start with zero experience. Our intro track covers clay prep, centering, basic hand-building, trimming, glazing fundamentals, and studio etiquette. We keep class sizes small so you’ll get hands-on guidance from minute one.
What’s included in the course fee?
Clay, tools, and standard firings
The fee includes studio tools during class, a starter allotment of mid-fire clay, in-studio glazes, and standard bisque + glaze firings for coursework pieces. Specialty glazes, oversized work, or re-fires may have a small additional charge (always approved with you first).
Do you offer evening or weekend schedules?
Flexible sessions for busy calendars
Yes. We run weekday evenings and weekend blocks. If a posted time doesn’t work, you can request a swap within the same course cycle (subject to seat availability) by emailing [email protected] at least 24 hours before the session.
What is your refund and rescheduling policy?
Clear, time-based rules
Full refunds are available up to 7 days before the course starts. Between 7 days and 48 hours before start, we can issue a studio credit valid for 6 months. Within 48 hours, refunds aren’t available, but you may transfer your seat to a friend by notifying us in writing ([email protected]) before the first session.
Is the studio safe for beginners and what about dust?
Ventilation, wet-cleaning, PPE options
Safety is built into the workflow: we wet-clean surfaces (no dry sweeping), use dedicated reclaim areas, and maintain strong ventilation. If you’re sensitive to dust, you’re welcome to wear a well-fitted mask. We also teach safe handling of glazes and kiln procedures—students never operate kilns unsupervised.
How long does firing take and when can I pick up pieces?
Typical kiln cadence explained
Bisque firing typically happens within 7–10 days of your piece being fully dry. Glaze firing usually takes another 7–10 days after glazing, depending on kiln load and cooldown time. We’ll notify you when items are ready; pickup windows are listed at the studio desk and via email.
Can I bring my own tools or clay?
Yes, with a quick compatibility check
You’re welcome to bring tools. For clay, we need to confirm the firing range and composition to protect kilns and shelves. Bring the packaging or a spec sheet; if it’s compatible with our mid-fire schedule, we can usually fire it. If not, we’ll suggest an equivalent studio clay.
What should I wear and bring to class?
Comfort, short nails, and a towel
Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dusty, and closed-toe shoes. Tie back long hair and keep nails short for easier centering. Bringing a small towel and an apron is helpful, but not required—tools and cleanup supplies are provided.
Do you accommodate allergies or sensitivities?
We can adapt with advance notice
Tell us ahead of time and we’ll help plan. We can recommend gloves, masks, seating away from reclaim areas, and low-odor workflow options. For severe allergies, please email [email protected] with specifics so we can confirm materials used in the studio.
